[Verified] Suno's free plan gives you 50 credits a day that vanish unused, and Suno keeps the copyright

Suno makes songs from a text prompt. You type lyrics and a style, and it returns a finished track with vocals and instruments. The free plan is real and needs no card. But we read the pricing page and the help center ourselves, and the free plan has two catches the marketing does not lead with. Your daily allowance does not accumulate. And the songs you make on it belong to Suno, not you. This piece covers what we verified, where it differs from the vendor’s framing, and whether US$10 a month fixes it.

What 50 credits a day really means

Credits are the points you spend each time Suno generates a song. The free plan, called Free Plan on the pricing page and Basic in older help-center articles, costs US$0 a month and gives you 50 credits. The important word is “daily”. The allowance resets every day, not every month.

That sounds generous until you read the footer of the pricing page. Suno states that subscription credits do not roll over day to day or month to month. On the free plan that means any of the 50 credits you do not spend today are gone tomorrow. You cannot save up for a weekend session. You cannot bank a week of unused credits for one big project. Fifty is the ceiling every single day, no matter what.

There is also no way to top up. The free plan explicitly excludes buying add-on credits. When the 50 run out, your only options are to wait for the next day or to subscribe.

The rest of the free tier, as listed on the pricing page:

• Model: v4.5-all only, which Suno calls its best free model. The newer v5 and v5.5 models are paid-only.
• Generation queue: 4 songs at once, in a shared queue. Paid users get a priority line for up to 10 songs.
• Audio upload: up to 8 minutes of your own audio. Paid plans allow 30 minutes.
• Features: standard features only. No stem separation, which is the tool that splits a finished song into separate vocal and instrument tracks.

The copyright line the pricing page underplays

The pricing page says “No commercial use” for the free plan. Most readers will assume that means “don’t sell it”. The help center goes further. It states that songs created on the free plan are owned by Suno, and free users are only granted permission to use them for non-commercial purposes.

This is the part we think readers should weigh most carefully. It is not a licence restriction on your song. It is a statement that the song is not yours. You get a permission slip, not ownership. If you later want to put a free-plan track on a streaming service, in a client video, or in a monetised YouTube channel, the free plan does not cover that. Pro and Premier both list commercial use rights for new songs made while subscribed.

The US$8 on the page is not the monthly price

The pricing page shows Pro at US$8 and Premier at US$24. Those are annual-billing figures averaged per month. The actual monthly prices, taken from the JSON embedded in the pricing page, are US$10 for Pro and US$30 for Premier.

Annual billing saves 20%. That is US$24 a year on Pro and US$72 a year on Premier. There is no first-month discount, no limited-time offer and no promo code published anywhere on the site. Tax is added at checkout.

Suno also publishes fixed local prices rather than converting from dollars. Monthly Pro is listed at EUR 9, GBP 8, JPY 1,500, KRW 15,000, AUD 15 and CAD 14. If you are billed in one of those currencies, check the local figure rather than assuming a dollar conversion.

What Pro adds over free: commercial rights, all advanced models including v5.5, 2,500 monthly credits, the ability to buy add-on credits, the priority queue for up to 10 songs, 30-minute uploads, two stem separation types, personas and advanced editing, and the option to tune a custom version of v5.5 on your own audio. Premier adds Suno Studio, a third stem separation type, and four times the credits.

☀️ AMO, the budget-minded cat

AMO’s question is simple. Is free enough, and if not, is US$10 worth it?

Free is enough for exactly one kind of person: someone who wants to play. Fifty credits a day, every day, is a real allowance. If you sit down each evening and make a few tracks for fun, you never pay a cent, and the daily reset means you never run dry for long. The v4.5-all model is a full song generator, not a crippled demo.

Free stops being enough the moment you want the song for anything beyond your own headphones. The ownership clause is the deal-breaker, not the credit count. A US$0 plan that gives you songs you cannot use is not a savings. It is a demo.

So is Pro worth US$10? AMO says yes, but only if you use it. You get 2,500 credits per month against the free plan’s 50 a day. You get commercial rights, which is the whole point. You get the add-on credit option so a heavy month does not stall. If you are sure you will use it all year, annual billing brings that to US$96, or US$8 a month, saving US$24.

AMO’s warning: do not buy annual on day one. Pay US$10 for one month first. Suno publishes no intro discount, so you lose nothing by waiting. If you still use it in month two, then switch to annual. And skip Premier unless you know what Suno Studio is and why you need it. US$30 a month is three Pro subscriptions.

🌙 PIMI, the performance-minded cat

PIMI’s question is different. Does the free plan actually let you do the work well?

The honest answer is that the free plan is a slower, older, lower-ceiling version of the same product. Start with the model. Free users get v4.5-all. Paid users get v4, v4.5, v4.5+, v5 and v5.5. Suno describes v5.5 as its best and most personal model, and it is the one you can tune with your own audio. If you care about output quality, you are two generations behind on free.

Then the queue. Free users share a queue with a limit of 4 concurrent songs. Paid users get a priority queue with 10 at once. When you are iterating on a track, making variations and comparing them, the difference between 4 shared slots and 10 priority slots is the difference between waiting and working.

Then the missing tools. No stem separation on free. That means you cannot pull out the vocals to remix, cannot isolate the drums, cannot hand a producer separate tracks. Pro gives you two separation modes. Premier gives you three plus Suno Studio. No advanced editing on free either. And the upload cap of 8 minutes versus 30 matters if you are extending or reworking longer pieces.

PIMI’s verdict: for a serious user, Pro at US$10 is the floor, not the upgrade. The 2,500 monthly credits matter less than the model access, the priority queue and the stems. Premier’s 10,000 credits and Studio access make sense only for people who produce at volume and need the full separation toolkit.

Verdict: who should use it, who should skip it

Use the free plan if you want to mess around with AI music for yourself and never intend to publish. The 50 daily credits are a genuine, recurring allowance, and the daily reset is kinder than a small monthly cap.

Skip the free plan if you plan to release, sell, sync or monetise anything. The song is Suno’s, not yours, and you cannot fix that retroactively. Go to Pro before you make the track you care about.

Buy Pro at US$10 monthly first. Move to annual at US$96 only after a month proves you use it.

Buy Premier only if you already know you need Suno Studio and the third stem separation mode. Otherwise the extra US$20 a month buys credits most people will not spend.

The one thing to remember that the pricing page will not tell you: on the free plan, the copyright is Suno’s. Everything else is a feature gap. That one is a rights gap.
